In this episode, Charlotte Thalmay, guide and owner of the tour company Jewish-Copenhagen.dk, tells the story of Denmark protected its Jews during WW2 saving 97% Jews from the Nazis. She owes her life to her grandfather who was in the resistance and who sent her father away before returning to save more Jews and eventually dying in the March of the living. Today, she is actively showing her Jewish Identity by sharing the story to Jews and non Jews alike who come visite Copenhaggen. Who is Charlotte Thalmay?
Owner of Jewish Copenhagen
Charlotte is a the owner of the tour company Jewish-Copenhagen.dk specializing in Jewish tours in Copenhagen, telling the dramatic and inspiring story of the Danish Jews.
As a child of holocaust surviver, and a granddaughter of Jewish refugees from Poland and Russia, she takes great pride in telling the unique and miraculous story about the rescue of 97% of the Danish Jews during the holocaust.
She is also the survivor of a terrorist attack against the Copenhagen Synagogue in 2015.
She is very active in the Jewish Community of Denmark where she is the Vice President of the Zionist Federation, and a Member of the Board of the Stumbling Stone project.
Charlotte lives in Copenhagen, she is 56 years old and is the mother of 2 children, Simon 23-years who lives in Israel, and Hannah 21-years who lives in Copenhagen.
